What this website does not do

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking tools, shows no advertising and loads no fonts or scripts from third-party servers. Fonts and images are served from our own server, and the site search runs entirely in your browser.

Server logs

The website is hosted by SiteGround Spain S.L., Calle Prim 19, 28004 Madrid, Spain, on servers in the Netherlands (EU). When you visit a page, the server automatically records technical data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the website and keep it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, in line with SiteGround’s retention periods, and are then deleted. SiteGround processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR).

Videos and podcasts

Some pages contain YouTube videos or Spotify podcast players. They are not loaded when you open the page. Only when you click the play button does your browser connect to YouTube (Google Ireland Ltd.; we use the privacy-enhanced mode youtube-nocookie.com) or Spotify AB, which then receive your IP address and may set cookies. Legal basis: your consent by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the United States; Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Links to our profiles on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube and Instagram and the share buttons under articles are plain links. No data is sent to these networks unless you click them.

Contact form and email

If you use the contact form or write to us by email, we receive your name, email address, subject and message, and use them only to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Form messages are sent to our mailbox by email from our web server and are not stored on the website. Our mailboxes are also hosted by SiteGround. To limit abuse, the server keeps a hashed (pseudonymised) form of your IP address with the time of sending; it is deleted after one hour. We delete enquiries when they are no longer needed, unless we are legally required to keep them.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise them, write to the address above. You may also lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at).
